Hold Tight, It’s Just Beginning
These past few weekends have been flurries of activity — very bad of me to be slacking off in writing them all down. I’ve done my best to try to remember the key events, though!
So, last last Friday Kim needed some models for her art project. She bribed us (Alex and Mark and me) all over to her house with sour patch kids and daiquiris and then took pictures of our hands! I think they turned out pretty well and if memory serves I think she got a good mark on them, so that is good!
Then the next day I went shopping with Angie in the morning and then to Cailee’s dance recital with Angie and Robyn in the afternoon. It was awesome! My brother was also at the University that day, attending the Engineering open house. Such a big thing* considering my parents were out of town that weekend, so he had to go to it all alone.
* A big thing for my mom, that is. Mike seemed pretty okay with it but mom was going nuts!
That Sunday was Lisa’s wedding which I attended with Kristen and Kim. It was very nice, and I’ve never been to a wedding so late! It was at 4 pm! Then the reception was at the church almost right after. Kind of unusual but I think it worked out alright.
Fast forward to Tuesday when Jen called me and we went to Second Cup to play cards. I mention this because it’s a milestone: I beat her at cribbage and, and! Crazy eights countdown! This is amazing because we almost never finish games before Jen gets bored or angry and reshuffles everyone’s hands. So even though it’s fantastic that we finished a game, it was even better since I won and lived to tell about it!
That Friday we got together again to play cards except this time Alex and Mark and Kim and Aman came, too. We finished again! But Alex won this time, hehe! I was close though. It was between her and me. But it was too much for me to hope that I’d win twice in one week!
The next day I went to Kim’s house with Jen and we… watched the Chipmunks movie. Jen adores that movie and her dream is to have sparkles come out of her feet like they do in the Athens scene. I guess it would be pretty cool! Later on I went to church and my darling Sammy was there for once! I hadn’t even seen her since her play!
We had a party for Alexis afterwards, which was fun. I had some punch, so I don’t know if that violates my Lent thing or not. Lent has actually been going quite well. I haven’t had Coke or Pepsi or Dr. Pepper or Cool by Nestea (and those are the big ones). I have had punch twice, two Italian sodas and a Shirley Temple. Mainly what I wanted to give up was drinking a can of pop every day, which I did. Still, I’m really glad that it’s almost over…
I saw the second Ice Age movie on Sunday. It was good, I like the animation and everything. It’s truly spectacular what they can do these days. Overall it wasn’t really that funny, though. (Except the Scrat scenes which are always good.)
Tomorrow’s Friday, which rules. I don’t have anything planned for this weekend yet but that might be okay considering I’m definitely coming down with a cold. Which doesn’t rule. But I don’t think I’ve been sick since I worked at the zoo, so that’s over six months at least, which is uncommon for me. I think I must have the crappiest immune system ever (or I used to). I think not going to a school every day has something to do with it, though I still ride the train (aka germ farm) every day. Eww, yesterday on the train some man blew his nose and just dropped the tissue on the floor. At first I thought it was forgivable since maybe he dropped it by accident, but then he blew it again with another tissue, dropped it, and blew it again, and dropped the third tissue, too. I can’t even imagine doing that.
