I Looked Out Across the River Today
I saw a city in the fog and an old church tower.
So, this whole making journal entries detailing what I did in Europe is kind of not as easy as I envisioned. I’ll keep posting updates but apologize for the lack of true insight! With all we’re seeing each day, it’s pretty hard to relay it all with 20 minutes of internet time!
So on May 10 we went to Windsor castle, primarily because Jen wanted to but I think so far it’s been my favourite castle. So huge and pretty! It was basically all we did that day but the train ride there and back was good. We had Burger King that evening (the chicken fingers seem less fatty here than at home, hmm). When we went to leave, two local guys got our attention and said “cheer up girls, it’s not so bad being American!” to which we of course replied, “We’re not American—” and they immediately brightened and said, “Oh, you’re the blessed Canadians, we’re alright with you!” Pretty funny I think!
The next morning we went to the British Museum, also free and great. They had tons of amazing exhibits but especially I loved the Anglo-Saxton one with carved ivory, the detail was just staggering. Tiny tiny tiny. That day we also went to the wax museum where I got my picture taken with Jack Sparrow and Sean Connery among others, it was really fun. We also went to Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral (where kiddies were having a rehearsal for their first communion, aww!)
Today was basically dedicated to getting here to Dublin! We made it, finally. The streets are confusing but the locals are very nice and we got here to our hostel eventually. The lockers in the room are all broken, which is concerning but I’m sure things will be alright.
