College Orientation
Well today was the orientation before my first day of college on Monday. All in all it went pretty well. It was nothing big, really. Once I got to the classroom I was supposed to be in, I was fine. I got there about half an hour early and was regretting it at first, but I think it was better that way. There was one other girl waiting there when I arrived (also half an hour early) and a guy also came soon after. Colleen and Craig and I waited for awhile and a few other people started showing up too. First impressions: my classmates seem pretty cool. My math teacher seems extremely over-enthusiastic (think the absolute antithesis to Makarow…) and my writing fundamentals teacher seems nice as well. She was saying, “haha, I bet you’re looking forward to my class most of all” with a sarcastic tone, but really, I am. Writing is the only class in which I’m confident I won’t mess up significantly. So…
Anyways, after the tour we were all super hungry so we went to the BBQ in front of Heritage hall. They had Westrax there, and so I was able to listen to ‘Heaven’ by DJ Sammy (odd, the first song I heard on my first day at ATCO…) and Jen’s monstrosity ‘Get Low’ (with the profuse swearing DJ-mixed out of it, heh).
I was able to infer from how people were talking that most of the other people taking graphics with me are not right out of high school like I am. I’m wondering, will that work to my advantage or not? Like, one might say, “but you’ve taken math more recently than some,” to which I would reply, “yes, but I did not understand about forty percent of the material!” So yeah, I guess we’ll see. Everything will even out in the end anyways.
Now I have three days to have fun before school starts full time. Yesterday I went to Jen’s (or as she prefers to be called since she got her wisdom teeth out, Melon-head’s) house and watched Titanic. Good times! Tonight I’m partying it down playing DDR at Kim’s!
