Searching for Eternity,

You are a frivolous dreamer, clinging to unreliable dreams.

Guys, ’08 is half over. Yikes!

Well, I’ve been kind of aware of my wasted time lately, so I’ve been trying to spend more time off the computer and it’s been going well. Some cool things have been keeping me busy like Kim’s amazing BBQ and watching Jeff’s theatre fighting (fighting two people at once with two rapiers, cool!) and tonight I’m going to a dinner with my Europe-trip pals and Alex’s aunt, who is in town from Poland (the one we stayed with for a week). Also, I’ve been trying to step up the art.

Here’s my latest finished picture. Click me! It’s from that book that I mentioned last time, Clan of the Cave Bear. Ayla’s the Cro-Magnon girl adopted by Neanderthals and the baby is Uba, her ‘sister’. Right now I’m reading Skeleton Crew by Stephen King. It’s a collection of fun and gory short stories but I probably won’t draw any of those. My next art project is coming along pretty well. It’s going to be called The Exodus Children and I’m aiming to have it done in the next week or two. Or three. I also started two Secret of Mana pictures some months ago when I was a bit obsessed with it. I should finish those… don’t get too excited though because it’s just those red herons and koi fish. However I did do the logo text all by myself and I think it looks pretty nice!

I’ve been experimenting a little with my telescope and I tried to take some pictures of the moon during the day. The good news is that the macro mode on my camera does more or less get the crater detail, so that’s cool! The “bad” news is that the black circle of the telescope itself is kind of distracting in the photo and I can’t convincingly edit it out. Either way, the moon was just a sliver when I took those pictures so I’ll try again when it’s full. As far as night time viewing is concerned, (and apart from Jupiter which will be an ongoing project in the months to come), I’m looking forward to seeing the Pleiades clearly in September and the Orion nebula in November. I bet there’s a lot more things I could be looking at right now even. I should do some research.

Justin’s living with us for a while, until his family gets the whole moving thing sorted out, so we played Settlers last night and Mike actually won. I say actually because he was the second to place and I don’t know, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen the second-to-place win. Well, you heard it here first! It really did happen!

Now I have some quick characteristic Virgo criticisms:

  1. Does anyone care about this Ranger Live or Die campaign that Kokanee is running? I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a more failed attempt at generating public interest.
  2. Is anyone else still getting emails from Classmates.com? I can’t believe they’re still trying. Give it up, Classmates.com! Facebook has made you obsolete!
