Slow Motion
School has been going so slowly lately. It could be because I’m sick… things seem to go in slow-motion when I’m sick. But I think the reason is more that I’m struggling to see purpose in all of my subjects at the moment.
In English we’re studying a book that, in my opinion, had no point whatsoever. In math, it doesn’t matter what we’re doing because I stopped seeing practical applications in math since grade eight ended. I mean, the teachers give you practical application word problems, but in truth, if you actually use linear systems to determine how many provinces in Canada have names with First Nations origin, you are a big, flaming geek. In chem we are slugging though the obligatory beginning-of-semester WHMIS and safety reviews. I’m averaging 120% in that class so far. Heh. That will definitely change once we actually get into real work, though. And art… well, it could be worse but it could be better. I don’t really like working in black and white. I need a little colour.
